There is quite a lot of potential in the mobile application development industry. Recognizing this, and encouraging students to enter this field, the Association of Computing Machinery, ACM, organized the SZABIST Mobile Development Conference 2011. The SMDC event was held at SZABIST University on October 23, 2011 with CIO Pakistan and PCWorld Pakistan as Technology Media Partners.
ACM has been accredited with being both the largest educational as well as scientific society in the world with over 92,000 global partners and an aim to promote computing as a science in its own right and an exciting profession that one may follow with ease. ACM comprises of three kinds of chapters; the Special Interest Groups, Professional Chapters and Student Chapters. It is to ACM’s success that it already has over 500 student chapters including the one at SZABIST, Karachi. Consequently, the conference organized by ACM was not only beneficial for students; it was also very well attended by students from various institutions across Karachi. The attendees were all anxious to learn about careers in the mobile application development arena.
